How does the Restore program work?

With the right guidance and support, most of us can develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime. In the Restore program, you will work with your own personal health consultant who will guide you through a 6month, individually tailored plan. During that time, you will have access to a panel of health experts and a wealth of resources, including the Health Initiatives Web site. You are eligible for Restore if your age is in the range of 16 to 120 and you are serious about taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle. You need not be a member of the Medi-Share program to participate in Restore.

1. Getting Started:

After you receive notice of your acceptance or activation, and just prior to your first meeting with your consultant (all consultant appointments are by telephone), you will take just 30 to 45 minutes to complete these important documents:

  • Survey to see if you need a medical exam before starting an exercise program*
  • Survey to help determine how you would best work with your consultant
  • Informed consent agreement

The informed consent agreement is to underscore that your consultant and the panel members are educators who do not diagnose, prescribe for, or treat disease and that you are in the driver’s seat when it comes to making decisions that impact your health.

2. Your first meeting with your consultant
During your first consultation, you will review your goals and go over the results of the surveys you have completed. You will also be granted access to the Personal Health Initiatives Web site. Following the meeting, your consultant will send you several helpful resources.
3. The second meeting
At your second meeting, you will set markers for measuring your progress, negotiate long-term and short-term goals, and negotiate a flexible “contract” for working together as you move toward your goals. The number of scheduled meetings with a consultant is determined on an individual basis.
4. From the third meeting forward
For your third and additional meetings, your plan will usually include several components, each shaped through a cooperative effort with your consultant. You will:
  • Direct questions to your consultant. progress, and make adjustments as needed. Identify barriers to achieving your goals, and strategies for overcoming them.
  • Sharpen self-management skills.
5. Your final meeting with your consultant
At your last meeting, you will have an opportunity to review your progress based on your goals and a retake of the Personal Wellness Profile. You will also review your long-term plan for continued success.
